Scottland has already and Wales is soon to do away with statements. They will be giving the money directly to the school and the school will decide how to spend it. Statements are a legally binding description of a child's deficits (reviewed annually) and a list of recomendations to the school for educational needs. The school MUST act on the statement.

No statements - nothing legally binds the school to specific care of the child. B's school will LOOOOOVE love love this as they PRIDE themselves on thier reputation as a Hearing Disabled school. All of the money that has not been forced by Statements is spent there already. More than one parent THIS year has already been told that there is NO money for thier child and no extra help, but if they had a hearing problem that would be another story...
